Redcoat Band Brass and Woodwind Membership

Music Majors or Minors

Performing in Redcoats on your principal instrument

Music majors or minors studying a marching band wind instrument in the School of Music are automatically eligible for limited Redcoat Band membership without further audition. To be eligible for full membership, these students are asked to record only the visual audition component and submit it by May 1 via the Redcoat Band application.

Performing in Redcoats on a secondary wind instrument

Music majors or minors seeking membership in a wind section other than that of their primary instrument are asked to record both the music and visual audition components on their intended marching band instrument. After completing both recordings, submit them by May 1 via the Redcoat Band application.

Non-Music Majors or Minors

It is NOT necessary to be a Music major to be a Redcoat! About 80% of Redcoats major in a field other than Music. 

To audition and apply:
1. Review the complete Membership Information Document for Brass and Woodwinds, which includes audition requirements, procedures, and frequently asked questions.
2. Prepare and record the music and visual audition components.
3. Apply for Redcoat Band membership.](http://bit.ly/RedcoatApplication) You will submit links to your audition video(s) within the application.
4. Ask your director or other music teacher to complete the recommendation form we email them.
